Available for Windows Mobile and Android, Temetra Reader is is our mobile application that works with Temetra to improve your meter reading efficiency, and capture all the data from AMR in the field. Temetra Reader gives you access to all the powerful innovations only available in Temetra such as
- Scheduled reading – separate read requests from rigid routes, to allow real time optimization of your mobile reads at large scale
- Geo-routing – allocate work to meter readers based on location and workload, instead of pre-defined routes
- Geo-sequencing – on-the-fly ordering of the meters to be read, with turn-by-turn directions
- Drive-by reading for AMR, even 2-way transponders using of GPS
- Multi-vendor meter reading from Itron, Elster, Sensus, Diehl and Homerider
- AMR modes – unleash the flexibility of 2-way transponders with flexible frame collection
- AMR groups – pre-define groups for high rise building, or other locations where GPS is unavailable
The WIndows Mobile version of Temetra Reader is a mature, robust app still reading 10’s of thousands of meters every day, but limited by the capabilities of the Windows Mobile platform and the handheld hardware.
Temetra Reader for Android is where all the newest features are being added, and the technical advances allow us bring further innovations in the field. Currently at version 2, several new features showcase the capability of modern mobile hardware and Temetra combined. Highlights from version 2 include
New In Version 2
Our customers have different priorities on what information about the meter is important during meter reading. The choice of connection number, meter serial or address are used to locate the meter, and depending on the county, postcodes may or may not be useful when meter reading.
To solve this, we’ve made changes to the webapp and Reader, to allow customers set the priority of information, and Reader will intelligently display these items in the limited space available when meter reading. By not using fixed locations for the displayed items, we can optimise the space available with only relevant information.
We provide a preview in the webapp using actual data from the customer network on phone and tablet
AMR Groups and AMR Modes
AMR groups allow arbitrary collections of meters to be grouped for reading, and Temetra Reader will automatically optimize within the group. This was introduced to help with meter reading of high-density, multi-storey buildings where the GPS based features of Temetra Reader no longer work.
Various tweaks and layout improvements, most visible on map page in drive-by mode, where we now show more information about the meters before they’re read, with improvements to the clustering when showing large numbers of meters.
The information displayed throughout Reader has been improved based on customer feedback, with some nice functionality to jump around between summary and detailed views of the meters.
The map can now be switched to a dark theme that’s less intense when viewed in a car. This is particularly helpful for those in higher and lower latitudes where periods of the working day can be in darkness.
Bar code searches
Do fast lookups of meters and transponders by scanning their barcodes. On the search page in Reader, use the camera to insert the meter’s serial number directly from the bar code.
Under the hood
More transponder support including Itron Intelis, Homerider and Sensus.
Like the Temetra web application, Temetra Reader is built on a modern platform, taking advantage of technology available on the latest handhelds. Built from the ground up using years of meter reading experience, Reader has been designed to minimize support requirements andmaximize time in the field reading meters.
In 2015 we introduced Temetra Reader for Android, for use on smartphones and tablets, giving you access to the many features available on mobile devices such as maps and navigation that were difficult on Windows Mobile.
All communications to and from Temetra are over a secure (SSL) internet connection, using any of:
- Built in 3G card
- Paired with your mobile phone over Bluetooth
- Using cradle attached to PC with ActiveSync
Multiple AMR radio reads from a single handheld
Temetra Reader is vendor neutral, capable of reading different AMR transponders simultaneously from a single handheld.
We directly support Itron Cyble RF, AnyQuest and EverBlu, Elster Coronis and drive-by, Sensus Coronis and Veolia Homerider. Using any combination of built-in radios and Bluetooth beltbox, Temetra Reader simplifies reading of multiple technologies from a one handheld.
Location Aware with GPS assist
Temetra Reader can use GPS to log meter locations or geo-locate meters assisting meter reader efficiency.
Built-in camera support and photographs
SD cards can be used to store meter location photographs, and a built-in camera used to capture photographs in the field. Photographs taken this way can be useful for later location, or to validate eyeball readings, skips and tampers.
